'Sota Series MP Qual at Midland Hills - Tournament Information | Minnesota PGA Jr.

Starting times and groupings for all events will be done on a blind draw, based on age division. 

For all events, requests for starting times or specific groupings will NOT be accommodated. 

Players shall start at the time and the order arranged unless otherwise informed by the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Staff.

Prompt attendance is required of all players at their starting time/hole of each round. Time of starting penalties shall be consistent with Rule 5.3. Each player is responsible for obtaining his/her starting time/hole.

Use of distance measuring devices IS allowed.

A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. Howeber, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a function of a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.) the player is in breach of Rule 4.3 (see penalty structure below). Yardage obtained from these devices may be shared with fellow competitors and is not deemed to be advice.

Note #1: The use of phones, PDA’s and hand-held devices that are capable of serving a function other than measuring distances are NOT permitted to be used in any capacity. 

Note #2: You can use a smart watch/garmin as long as the only function that will be used is the distance measuring device.

Note #3: Use of GPS yardage systems installed on golf carts is not permitted at any time. Spectators must not relay any yardage information displayed by a GPS system in a golf cart.

A player who breaches this policy will be subjected to the following penalties:

FIRST OFFENSE: Two (2) stroke penalty

SECOND OFFENSE: Disqualification

If there is a question on the legality of a certain device, it is recommended that all players contact the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Office.

Participants are prohibited from using cell phones, personal music systems, airpods, smart watches for texting, listening to music or anything that distracts while golfing and the like while on the course at our events. Please turn off your cell phone when you arrive at the course. This means no texting, talking or checking your cell phone for messages during play. If you are caught using any of the above devices during your stipulated round, the first offense will be a two (2) stroke penalty, the second offense will be disqualification.

Note: You can use a smart watch/garmin as long as the only function that will be used is the distance measuring device.

We DO NOT allow caddies in the 'Sota Series Match Play Qualifiers.

We DO NOT allow walk-ons at 'Sota Series Match Play Qualifiers. A junior will need to regsiter for a Match Play Qualifier by the deadline date of Wednesday, June 22 at 11:59 p.m. CST  

Tee Time Events: Players will register on their starting tee ten (10) minutes prior to their starting time. It is the players responsibility to know their time of starting and be on the starting tee ten (10) minutes prior. Please wait until the group in front of you tees off before you walk up to the tee. You will receive your scorecard on the starting tee.

Approximate yardages for Match Play Qualifiers are as below:

Boys: 6,100 - 6,500 Yards
Girls: 5,100 - 5,500 Yards

Please note that all tournament rounds may not fall in the range of yardages below and the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf 'Sota Series and host facility pro, manager, etc.. has the authority to adjust any yardages that deems appropriate for tournament play.

Juniors will find out the number of qualifying spots available at the host site the day of the qualifier, before they tee off.

Playoffs for Match Play Qualifiers - All ties for qualifier spots must be broken. The first option is to use an on course sudden death playoff. If the course is not available, you will break the ties by the USGA recommended method for scorecard playoffs. The matching scorecards will be used to determine the winner. Determining the winner will be based first on the score for the last nine holes, then last six holes, then last three holes and finally the 18th hole. If there is still a tie, then the last six holes, three holes and final hole of the first nine holes will be considered. If the event is a double tee start the last nine holes will be considered Holes 10-18. If the event is a shotgun start the last nine holes will be considered Holes 10-18.

The following weather warning procedures will be in effect:
SEVERE WEATHER COURSE EVACUTION PLAN SIGNALS

ONE (1) long blast = Discontinue play immediately 

TWO (2) short blasts = Resume Play 

THREE (3) short blasts = Discontinue play for darkness

In the event of a suspension of play due to inclement weather, all players and spectators should immediately vacate the golf course and go straight to their vehicles. Players without a vehicle on-site, will take shelter in the clubhouse maintaining proper social distance.
